What is in this olive oil sugar scrub?
Sugar
For this recipe, you can use white sugar, raw sugar, or even coconut sugar, if you prefer.
The sugar will gently exfoliate your skin, getting rid of any dead skin cells and dirt, while also deeply cleansing your pores.
olive oil
A good quality oil such as olive oil will moisturize your skin after the sugar has cleansed it thoroughly.
Olive oil works better in a sugar scrub than just by itself because your skin is first deeply cleansed and then it can be deeply penetrated and moisturized by the oil.

Why use a sugar body scrub
Using a sugar scrub helps gently exfoliate your skin. The sugar gently scrapes off dead skin cells, dirt, and oil on your skin.
Sugar also contains an acid called glycolic acid (an AHA).
This acid in sugar helps break down layers of dead skin, as well as, smooth the skin’s surface, leaving behind your clean, smooth skin.
Sugar scrubs help deeply moisturize your skin by first exfoliating away the dirt and dead skin cells, making way for the oil to deeply penetrate into your skin.

How to use olive oil body scrub
To use your homemade body scrub, start by wetting your skin where you want to apply the scrub.
Using your hands, grab a small amount of your scrub and start rubbing it over your wet skin.
Rub the scrub all over your skin, and then leave it on for a minute or so.
Rinse the scrub off.
Using a scrub works the best when you are in the shower, as it can otherwise get kind of messy.
If you do use it in the shower, however, make sure you do not slip, as the oil can make the floor slippery.
Make sure you avoid using this scrub on any sensitive areas including the eyes!

Store your homemade scrub with the lid on for up to 2 weeks outside the fridge.
It may last longer than this, but just make sure that no water gets into the jar, as that will drastically cut down on the shelf life.
Can I store this in the fridge to lengthen shelf life?
