I have fairly long hair and plan to keep growing it out for awhile. I think it would be fun to see how long I can grow it before it drives me nuts and I wack it off.
The only problem with growing long hair: split ends.
To get rid of split ends I have to get my hair trimmed, which makes it feel I loose so much progress.
The ends of my hair just get so dry that they can’t help but split. I know that it would probably be better if I kept my hair up in a loose bun all the time to protect the ends, but truth is, my favorite styles usually include braids.
I have wanted to invest in some leave in conditioner for awhile, as regular conditioner seems like it does nothing for my hair.
However, a more natural leave in conditioner or even a high quality hair oil can get quite pricey!
We’re talking at least 5 dollars a bottle, but that would be for not very natural products.
I like to know what is in the products I buy and put on/in my body. I like to go off the rule of, if I can’t pronounce it on the first try, my body probably won’t know what it is either.
That is why I came up with this easy, cheap, natural leave in conditioner recipe!
My hair has been loving the natural ingredients and I have so much less frizz when using this. Which for my hair, is a really big deal!

The ingredients:
Coconut Milk: I use canned coconut milk because it doesn’t usually separate or go bad very fast. Full fat coconut milk is best because the fat is good for your hair. For this recipe you will only be using 2 tablespoons of coconut milk, so you can either use the rest of the can for something else or freeze it in small amounts for making more conditioner later on.
Lemon Essential Oil: This makes this recipe smell so good and fresh! Lemon essential oil will have your hair shining as well as energized smelling. (Is energized a smell? I think if it it was it would be lemon:)
Water: You technically don’t have to use water in this recipe but it works to thin out the coconut milk and essential oil. If you omit the water, you might end up with some pretty built up coconut milk on your hair!

How to use lemon coconut leave in conditioner
You can use this conditioner two ways, either on clean, wet hair or on dry hair.
Wet hair: After you are done showering, towel dry your hair slightly. Spray this leave in conditioner on the ends of your hair. Detangle your hair with a wide tooth comb, starting from the bottom, working all the way up to your roots. Let your hair air dry and style as usual.
Dry hair: Comb through your hair, then spray leave in conditioner on your hair ends. Comb the conditioner through your hair and style.
Notes: It is best to not spray this natural leave in conditioner onto your scalp as this can make your hair and scalp a bit greasy.
This leave in conditioner can be used several times a week, however, it isn’t necessary to use it every single day.
I personally use this every other day when my hair is especially dry (such as in our dry winter months).

How long does this leave in conditioner last
This leave in conditioner keeps best when it is stored in the refrigerator. You can keep this conditioner in the fridge for up to 1 and a half weeks.
This recipe makes a small amount of leave in conditioner, but that is so you can use it up more quickly.
Feel free to double or triple the batch if you have a lot of hair or you have several family members with long hair.
