I have always loved rabbits. They are the cutest, cuddliest animals, in my opinion.
Growing up, every summer I would drag my pet bunnies everywhere with me.
I would dress them up and lay them on their backs in a baby doll carriage.
And then proceed to drive my ‘baby’ all over our farm. It is still a mystery to me how they stayed on their backs so patiently and that I never gave them heat stroke from all the clothes and blankets I would wrap around them!
I will forever love my childhood ‘babies’, and although I have had several rabbits, my favorites where Buttercup and Spur.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a good pet, get your kids a rabbit! If you find a good one, your kids will entertain themselves for hours!

This brings us to current day
Flower gardens. Now that I am in charge of a household, I want to grow some pretty flowers in my flower garden in front of my house.
However, currently our neighborhood is having a huge influx of rabbits. They are literally everywhere you look.
I love to watch them happily munch grass, but I also would like to keep them from eating all my flowers off before they get a chance to grow.
I set out to find a natural way to repel rabbits from my flower gardens without hurting them.

Why use red pepper flakes?
Red pepper flakes contain a compound called, capsaicin. Capsaicin acts as an irritant to rabbits as well as other pests including raccoons, skunks, squirrels, insects cats and dogs.
Another perk of using red pepper flakes is that they are completly natural so you don’t have to worry about putting chemicals on your gardens. This will help keep any wildlife that may still stumble into your garden safe but remind them to stay out.
There are two methods of using red pepper flakes to deter rabbits: sprinkling them or making a liquid solution you can spray on your plants.
Keep in mind because these are natural ways to keep rabbits out of your garden, you will need to reapply either of these methods more often then if you were using chemicals to keep them out.
First Method: Sprinkle
The first and easiest method, is to take some red pepper flakes and sprinkle them all over your flower or vegetable beds.
Reapply this once a week, after it rains or as needed.

Second Method: Solution
To make a rabbit deterring solution you will need red pepper flakes, garlic, and water.
In a few minutes, you can make one gallon of solution. The amount of time this solution will last you depends on the size of your garden.
It is beneficial to use both methods of applying red pepper flakes to your plant.
Hopefully the sprinkled red pepper flakes will stop the rabbits in their tracks, but if they don’t when they bite into the red pepper solution on the plants they will most likely not be coming back for more!
How to make red pepper solution
1. Start by placing 1/4 cup of red pepper flakes into a 1/2 gallon mason jar.
