What is in homemade fajita seasoning
Chili powder
This rich, savory and yet tangy spice will give your homemade fajita seasoning the kick it needs.
cumin
This classic Tex-Mex herb gives your seasoning mix the body it needs.
salt
Use a good quality salt such as redmond real salt to give you that salty flavor with some health benefits.
paprika
Paprika gives your seasoning a sweet, peppery taste. You can substitute regular paprika for smoked paprika if you prefer.
oregano
A little oregano goes a long way when it comes to fajita seasoning.
garlic powder
Adding garlic powder to your seasoning will give it that nutty, buttery flavor that you will love.
cayenne pepper
This is completely optional! If you have kids that don’t love super spicy dishes, or you don’t love spicy, just omit.
arrowroot powder
Adding arrowroot powder helps stick the spices to the meat, and also thickens the marinade when you add liquid to the meat.
If you don’t have arrowroot powder, you can substitute 1 for 1 of cornstarch instead.
The difference between taco seasoning and fajita seasoning
These two seasonings are very similar in taste.

Most boughten fajita seasoning mixes contain citric acid or powdered lime juice, while taco seasonings do not.
To make up for the acid, just add a little lime juice to your fajitas as you almost done cooking them.
